Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner

™ and ©1984 Marvel Entertainment Group

Namor is the Sub-Mariner, Prince of Atlantis. Born of an Atlantean mother and a human father, he has long held a deep-seated mistrust of surface-dwellers and has frequently done battle with them. Although Namor is one of Marvel’s longest-running characters, he has rarely been seen as more than an amphibian hot-head.

J.M. DeMatteis created this four-part limited series for Marvel, using the opportunity to explore previously unexplained aspects of Prince Namor’s life. By the series’ end, we see a far more developed character than the short-tempered powerhouse that previously was the Sub-Mariner.
