Ted Nomura displays his usual zeal for portraying aerial warfare in this tale set in a world where World War II lasted a little longer than it did in actual history. Nomura clearly has an interest in aircraft design as shown by the detailed profiles on the back cover of the planes featured in the story. He provides information about manufacturers and capabilities that sounds so authentic a reader can’t be sure whether these planes were actually made. The actual story features extended dogfight sequences that highlight the technical and tactical strengths and weaknesses of planes in combat situations.
