Inhumans (Vol. 6)

Here’s another attempt to revive Marvel characters who’ve never clicked with a mass audience, but Sean McKeever has figured out that what was wrong with The Inhumans was The Inhumans—their royal family, anyway. Part of it wasn’t their fault—they were never super–heroes when only super–heroes mattered—but part of it was they were stiff and superior (If they were so advanced, why hadn’t they ever treated Maximus the Mad with a course of psychotropic drugs?) with all the huggable warmth of the Norse gods.

McKeever’s decided to focus on the more “normal” members of their race, using immersion into the Terrigin mists as both a metaphor for adolescence and a handy way of getting inside alien heads. The idea of turning a bunch of junior–grade Inhumans into reluctant Earth ambassadors should make for interesting stories, if he can avoid the traditional themes of intolerance and hitting. And Mathew Clark provides solid, non–traditional Marvel-looking art.
