Girls Bravo
(Tokyopop, 2005-2007)
™ and ©2001 Mario Kaneda
High-school student Yukinari has been so relentlessly tormented by girls that he breaks out in a rash if one even touches him. (Considering what a spineless wimp he is, I’m guessing this is an infrequent occurrence.) Then, he’s inexplicably whisked to a world full of beautiful women he’s not allergic to—a world experiencing such a severe man shortage that even Yukinari is a hot commodity.
There, he meets curvy, ever-hungry Miharu, who unaccountably decides to follow him back to Earth when he becomes homesick for the abuse of girl-next-door and childhood “friend” Kirie. The other-worldly aspect is quickly forgotten, as readers take a quick spin around the most hackneyed of romantic comedy manga clichés, which produces nothing much in the way of either laughs or character development.
Here’s yet another nicely drawn, emotionally bankrupt harem comedy that lacks a single likable character. Its only memorable moment comes when Miharu mistakenly starts showing off her chest and Yukinari speaks the unforgettable line, “Unleash your dairies.” (I only wish I could forget.)
