Darkman vs. the Army of Darkness

Sam Raimi was the creator behind both the Darkman and Army of Darkness films, so once both properties had made the leap into the world of comics, a crossover was probably inevitable. In this series, the vigilante known as Darkman strives to protect the woman he used to love, a task that becomes more difficult when “The Book of the Dead” turns up. Suddenly an army of undead zombies walks the city, and when that happens, can Ash—the man with the metal hand—be far behind? Not surprisingly, he and Darkman do not immediately become fast friends.

The comic, like the films, is both grisly and humorous, and the character renditions are faithful. Issues include variant covers, including a photo cover of Bruce Campbell. Well-known writers Kurt Busiek and Roger Stern and artist James Fry take on the project; could be that they’re Raimi fans.
