Iron Fist: Wolverine

The mystical city of K’un Lun, where Danny Rand was raised and trained to be the martial arts master, Iron Fist, occupies another dimension. Normally it crosses the dimensional interface at a remote location in Tibet. In his Heroes for Hire title Rand attempted to have Ku’n Lun manifest itself in the year 2000 in order to introduce a new age of heroes. But in the New Warriors (Vol. 2), Junzo Muto leader of The Hand, (a deadly band of Japanese ninja assassins), stole the powers of Iron Fist and plans to have Ku’n Lun appear within the space now occupied by Tokyo. Ku’n Lun is anchored to Rand’s heartbeat, so that it will appear wherever Rand is. To that end, The Hand kidnapped Rand’s girl friend, Misty Knight, to force him to go to Tokyo. Of course he does just that.

This title appears to exist to tie up loose ends that were left hanging in Heroes for Hire and New Warriors (Vol. 2). Wolverine replaces Luke Cage as Iron Fist’s partner possibly because Cage was incapacitated by The Hand, but more likely because of the built in fan base that Wolverine’s presence could bring to a story that has seen two titles cancelled before its resolution.
