Don’t Go Where I Can’t Follow

Anders Nilsen collects together the remnants of a romance with his departed fiancé, Cheryl, in Don’t Go Where I Can’t Follow. This book is a touching scrapbook of a very real romance, including postcards mailed between the two of them, a letter to his sister recounting a camping trip, pictures of their trip to France, and a comic about the absurd problems of getting to France. It also collects a few entries in Anders’ diary, retelling Cheryl’s battle with cancer, and how she lost it, and then presents a beautifully rendered comic showing the events of her funeral, with a lovingly written letter by Anders addressed to Cheryl about that day. Don’t Go Where I Can’t Follow is the true story of love in the face of disease and death, and a wonderfully sentimental read.
