Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies Comics

    (Dell, 1940-1962)

From the late 1930s to the early 1960s, Warner Brothers poured forth a steady stream of inspired animated lunacy in the form of the brilliant cartoon series Looney Tunes. The legendary pantheon hardly bears repeating—Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Foghorn Leghorn, Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner and on and on. As the A-list of animated funny animal properties, they were done onto the comic book page by Dell, the masters of that sort of thing. Looney Tunes was the flagship title, appearing first in 1941. All the big names passed through on the way to their own series or frequent appearances in Four Color Comics.
