With a huge cast of characters and only so many pages to spare in the regular Transformers book, IDW and writer Simon Furman serve up a series of one-shots that focus the spotlight on individual Autobots and Decepticons who have not been especially prominent in the Stormbringer mini-series or the ongoing Earth adventures. For this series, Furman has chosen to focus on an eclectic mix of characters, including Shockwave, a favorite of comic book fans and the Autobot detective Nightbeat, one of the writer’s personal favorites. Furman also takes the opportunity to provide insights into characters like Sixshot, who have hardly spoken a word before, and attempt to reveal new or different facets of characters like Hot Rod and Ultra Magnus, who might get a bad rap from Transformers fans.
