Zombies vs. Robots

    (IDW, 2006, 2007, 2012, 2015)

The title of this series alone is enough to let one know that it’s patently ridiculous—there are zombies, there are robots, and they fight. The actual story, which involves a lone uninfected human baby being cared for by the robots in the hopes of one day repopulating the Earth, isn’t all that important. This book is all about the art, handled by IDW superstar Ashley Wood. His style, which is very sketchy and low on colors, is an acquired taste, but for one who’s acquired it, this book is gorgeous.

Company editor-in-chief Chris Ryall handles writing, which, although not key to this book, certainly does the job of telling a fun story to accompany the visuals. This book won’t change your life, but it will make you a happy camper, and the end will leave you wondering where IDW will go from there. The only reasonable answer, of course, is this book’s follow-up series: Zombies vs. Robots vs. Amazons, coming in late 2007.
