X23 is the otherwise-nameless partial clone of Marvel Comic’s own infamous Wolverine. Created from a flawed sample that had a damaged y-chromosome, the clone could only be female. Younger, smaller, and slightly slower than Wolverine, she’s seen as something as a failure by the military operation that created her. However, she proves more capable than they anticipated, and escapes. Disguising herself as the daughter of the head scientist on the team who created her, she moves in with her “aunt” and attempts to become friends with her troubled “cousin.” Does she have a chance at a normal life? And is that even what she wants? Written by Craig Kyle and Chris Yost, with art by Mike Choi and Sonia Oback, Target X is a view into this enigmatic mutant’s past.
