Yet another reworking of the famous Oz book by L. Frank Baum. This one uses Baum’s original script, but that’s not the real attraction here. It is the outstanding full color, painted graphic novel artwork that illustrates the book that is the real draw here. David Chauvel and Enrique Fernandez have outdone themselves and any prior Oz illustrators (even W.W. Denslow and John R. Neill!) with their highly stylized rendition. Purists beware, but for everyone else, this is a welcome updating.
