The adventurous story of author and illustrator Joann Sfar’s mother’s Eastern European heritage told in serialized graphic novel form. The hero here is Noah Davidovich and his band of musicians who struggle within the world of Eastern Europe and their Jewish communities during the years preceding World War II. If you are a fan of short stories and old Yiddish folk tales, this would be the series to try. The simple watercolor style is easy on the eyes and the stories themselves run the gamut of emotions from tender and lighthearted to dark and tragic.
