Scarface: Scarred For Life

Just when you thought all of the good media tie-ins were taken—along comes Scarface. This one is a bit unanticipated, given that the character was destroyed by a hail of automatic weapons fire at the end of the original film. However IDW, leaving no licensed property unturned, presents a sequel to that cult cinema favorite. The angle taken by this series is, after being shot more than a hundred times, Tony Montana gets better. Here, after a few months of recovery, Montana is a reluctant government witness confined to a wheelchair. But if you think that slows him down or stops him from killing a whole lot of people, well, you’d be wrong.
Scarface fans will be right at home with writer John Layman’s take on Tony Montana, which jibes perfectly with the movie. Dave Crosland’s cartoony take on the art somehow compliments the story’s ultra-violent nature.
