Superman: Cover to Cover

    (DC, 2006)
™ and © DC Comics, Inc.

Over 270 covers feature Superman, divided into such thematic sections as “The Man of Steel,” “The Wedding and Beyond,” and “Superman Goes to War.” Frequent juxtaposition of similarly themed covers for artistic or historic comparison. Intermittent text pages from a variety of contributors describing what they love about particular covers. What’s not to like?

Superman Cover to Cover is a book that can wear many hats. It’ll look good on the coffee table and will be fun for guests to flip through. It also provides an overview of how we have viewed one of the world’s most recognizable fictional characters over the decades.

Long-time readers will, no doubt, have favorite covers not reproduced in this book. Or perhaps one might quibble over the inclusion of some selections or the chapters in which they were placed. This is no reflection on the present volume. These covers represent but the smallest sample of Big Blue’s oeuvre. Superman Cover to Cover is merely one way to sum up the visual impact of this iconic character.
