Writer Dirk Manning does his best Rod Serling impression as host of this horror anthology that mixes elements of Tales from the Crypt with a heaping helping of Lovecraft. Joined by a variety of artists, Manning spins tales that look to be vastly different in their settings and genre. With only the mysterious narrator as a common thread, the book can shift abruptly from a modern day tale of infidelity to a Victorian romance to a barbarian fantasy. In all cases, Manning finds a way to somehow have evil triumph in the end.
