The Brave and the Bold (3rd Series)

The first series titled The Brave and the Bold started as an anthology titled but eventually became a super-hero team-up title. It became a Batman-only team-up title in 1966, (with the Batman TV show craze), and remained so until it ended in 1984. After the success of Batman: The Dark Knight in 1986, Batman’s characterization was altered to that of a grim loner in the regular continuity. As if to reinforce that image, the Superman-Batman team-up title World’s Finest also ended in 1986.

But comics are nothing if not cyclical and Batman’s loner status eventually evolved, or perhaps eroded, to the extent that team-ups and partners returned. So too, did The Brave and the Bold in 2007. Although the first issue of this revived series features Batman and Green Lantern, a revolving cast is planned much like original title’s intention. In the second issue the plot advances to incorporate Supergirl partnering with Green Lantern. The intention is for characters to cycle in and out depending on the story.
