In a scientifically-created nightmare, Midnighter watched as his super-hero friends were picked off one by one by a worm-like creature. Now, even though he has safely returned to base,the lingering after-effects of the experience remain. He’s plagued by strange hallucinations, lashing out at his colleagues as they take the shape of the worms.

Grifter is an unusual assassin, using mind control to make his targets usher in their own demise. His skill is matched only by the torment in his mind. Will a new partnership be just what these two super-human men need?
