A cute talking teddy bear joins the ranks of toys that come to life in this book that falls somewhere in the spectrum between the dark and violent “Child’s Play” movies and the gentle “Toy Story” series. The titular character is a Teddy Ruxpin-like animatronic toy that has its programming replaced, changing it from a friendly, singing friend into a hard-edged bodyguard and soldier. Winding up in the hands of a young boy from a broken family, the tiny warrior protects his playmate from real and unreal threats both major and minor.
