UG 3K & Expozo
(Fogelcomix, 2007)
™ and © Fogelcomix
UG 3K is an anthology of underground comix compiled from over three decades of material. The artists represented within range from R. Crumb (the father of underground comix) to more modern creators who produced work just for this volume, such as Kieron Dwyer. Certainly this anthology is not for children, but otherwise it has the potential for broad appeal, as it contains material that covers a wide spectrum of genres, from introspective, relationship-based works (such as those brought to the table by Gilbert Hernandez of Love & Rockets fame) to pure pornography (such as that reprinted from Demi: Sex Saga of a Demoness). The last pages of this anthology are dedicated to a history of underground comix, essays by some of their most notable creators, and other such supplementary material, making this volume an excellent introduction or addition to any comix library.
