Witchblade/The Punisher
(Image, 2007)
Witchblade © 2007 Top Cow Productions, Inc. The Punisher ® & © 2007 Marvel Characters Inc.
Sara Pezzini, bearer of the Witchblade, must often deal with criminals and murderers, but she does so within the confines of the law. The Punisher has a different method of dealing with them, and it typically involves a bullet. When Pezzini is assigned guard duty on a criminal transport, she doesn’t expect there to be any problems—but she also wasn’t counting on the Punisher showing up. How are the two different, and how are they alike? They’ll only find out if they don’t end up killing each other first.
Like most inter-company crossovers, the story is pretty slight. Characters encounter each other, battle, and find common ground (or not). Still, a straightforward story by Ron Marz, pretty pencils by Adriana Melo, and a Joseph Michael Linsner cover go a long way in making for an entertaining read.
