The story behind the albums of alternative/prog-rock band Coheed & Cambria gets translated into graphic form courtesy of frontman Claudio Sanchez in Image’s five-issue miniseries The Amory Wars. Coheed Kilgannon and his wife Cambria cannot sleep well at night; they are haunted by dreams that tell of a bleak past, or perhaps a bleak future. Now a government authority tells them that for the galaxy to survive, they must do the unthinkable—kill their children, or else let the virus inside their bodies be unleashed, destroying all life everywhere in the process.

This comic is essential reading for any fans of Coheed & Cambria, but is also a good read for fans of science fiction in general. The epic scope of the project—a space opera told through five record albums and five comic books—is an impressive one, and one that should appeal to those with an affinity for the dramatic either in their comics, their music, or both.
