The “Mystic Arcana” crossover event turned out to be an entertaining and unique look at magic in the Marvel universe. Different issues took slightly offbeat looks at the magical aspects of some long-standing characters, including Illyana, the Black Knight, the Scarlet Witch, and Sister Grimm.

In a long-ago issue of New Mutants, Illyana Rasputin and Dani Moonstar accidentally traveled back to ancient Egypt. They came home, but what happened to them while they were away? This issue answers that question in a time- and space-spanning adventure that includes appearances by Illyana’s magical realm of Limbo, an ancestor of the X-Men’s Ororo, and other twists and turns.
