Junior Pirates

Once upon a time, the most vile pirate of them all sailed the seven seas. The name of Blackbeard was feared from one side of the Caribbean to the other, and his path was marked by death, plunder, and a child. His own life ended on the gallows, but, before he died, he passed an inheritance to his son and to the children of his crew. The secret lay hidden, until, one day, a voice called to Edward Teach from a pipe in the floor of the chamber.

So begins the tale of the son of Blackbeard. Escaping from the orphanage with Israel Hand, he commandeers a ship and finds a crew. Within the journal of Blackbeard is treasure untold, and adventure waiting to unfold. All I can say is cool. Chuck Dixon and the art team of Guillermo Mendosa and Eduardo Alpuente have created a tale that cries out, “Read Me!” to comics fans of all ages. The story is refreshing, and the art is uncluttered, letting the reader’s eyes flow from scene to scene. Junior Pirates is a treasure. Don’t bury this one.
