Annihilation: Conquest—Wraith

    (Marvel, 2007)

The Kree Empire has fallen, and the universe needs a savior: one who can fight, and defeat, the powerful techno-organic race known as the Phalanx. The mysterious, pale-faced stranger known as Wraith is capable of all those things, but he’s got other things on his mind. He’s seeking vengeance on the man who killed his family, and woe is anyone—Kree, Phalanx, whoever—that gets in his way.

Marvel has used its “Annihilation” crossovers to develop and give exposure to some under-utilized characters; in this mini-series, it introduces a brand new one. There’s a real Clint Eastwood feel to this grim, murky series by Javier Grillo-Marxuach and Kyle Hotz (seemingly channeling Kelley Jones).
