Friday the 13th: Pamela’s Tale

™ and © 2007 New Line Productions, Inc.

The first Friday the 13th title since Wildstorm Comics decided to ditch ongoing series in favor of mini-series based more solidly on the movies, Pamela’s Tale deals with the titular character/wicked killer Jason’s mother—Pamela Voorhees. Delving into territory mostly unexplored by the films, this series, written by Marc Andreyko (Manhunter) gives us a closer look at the history, and more importantly the psychology, of the woman that raised one of cinema’s most notorious killers—and even became one herself.

It is strange to see Marc Andreyko on a project so far removed from his famous super-hero/courtroom drama series, but he does an excellent job with a script that flows like a film, and Shawn Moll’s art, particularly the way he draws faces, is unsettling enough to truly be worthy of a Friday the 13th book.
