In years past, the Challengers of the Unknown had become legends. These four men—Rocky Davis, Ace Morgan, Red Ryan, and Professor Haley—has been asked to appear together on a network television show. Then their plane crashed. The four survived somehow. Realizing that they were “living on borrowed time,” they decided to live life to its limit, challenge the unknown in the days that remained.

It had been years since they were in their adventuring prime. Now they lived in Challenger Mountain, the chief attraction in Challengerville, a tourist site ranking somewhere between the Mt. Rushmore and the Everglades. All that changed when a madman placed a bomb inside Challenger Mountain. It detonated just as the Professor tapped a weird energy source he had discovered. The mountain exploded, thousands were killed, and surviving Challengers took the blame. Meanwhile, a strange new force had crossed into this world…
