Few things inspire parody like a hit television show. When that show is about people with extraordinary abilities—super-heroes—the opportunities for satire are endless, and a comic-book satire is inevitable. In this one-shot, the indestructible cheerleader of the popular show suffers graphic injuries on nearly every panel. The Internet stripper is instead a weather woman, the young man who thinks he can fly is delusional, and all of the various mysteries are set on their ear.

If you don’t watch the show, you may not get most of the references, but even then you’ll spot nods to The X-Files, Beavis & Butt-Head, and other pop culture icons. The caricatures are fairly accurate, the humor good in parts. You’ll think you’re reading Mad magazine all over again.
