Gilbert Hernandez presents a psychological study of Val, a young woman who excels at gymnastics, becoming one of the best athletes in the state, but has a strained relationship with her father and step-mother. Hungry for something more, Val dons a mask and traipses around the neighborhood at night peeking into windows and watching the life of others. Val especially enjoys scaring her step-mother, and watching her parents when they think they are alone together. The thrill-seeking Val is quickly alienating her friends, even her best friend who covers for her on her nights out. But Val may be facing more than the anger of her parents and friends, as she ventures out into the dangerous neighborhoods for bigger thrills.
