St. Petersburg High seems like a typical high school. The students are a mix of serious scholars, class clowns, jocks, nerds and screw-ups. The principal and faculty are dedicated professionals who employ a mixture of discipline and concern as they mold the young minds under their tutelage. Of course that all means absolutely nothing when a horde of zombies descends on the campus turning anyone in their path into slack-jawed, slathering monstrosities.

The Zombie Project is tightly written with realistic dialogue by Toney Tapia and cartoony but expressive art by Matthew Petz. The steady advance of the zombie mob is portrayed with a real sense of trepidation and finality. However the book’s clearly literal name sounds like the working title intended to describe the concept until the real title was determined.
