Yesterday’s Tomorrows
(Knockabout Gosh, 2007)
™ and © Knockabout Gosh
From the Publisher:
An eclectic and stylish collection of comics from Rian Hughes, reknowned illustrator and graphic designer.
Long before he discovered the Apple Mac, Hughes was collaborating with Eisner Award-winner Grant Morrison on the classic British character Dan Dare, producing a post-modern classic which sets an ageing, retired Dan against a modern British landscape he no longer understands.
Versatile and unpredictable, Hughes makes full use of his clean graphic stly on The Science Service, written by John Freeman, and a looser, moody noir palette on Raymond Chandler’s Goldfish, here adapted by writer Tom DeHaven. Really & Truly, another Morrison collaboration, is a high-octane psychedelic road-trip torn from the pages of cult comic 2000 A.D.
As well as sketchbook pages, merchandise and rare strips — many never seen before or out of print for over a decade — the book features an introduction by comics guru Paul Gravett, who published Hughes’ very first strips in his seminal independent comics magazine Escape.
