Batman/Lobo: Deadly Serious
(DC, 2007)
™ and © 2007 DC Comics, Inc.
A voice in his head—and a wrenching teleportation—takes Batman to a mammoth ship several light years away from Earth. There he meets a woman who tells him that he must help stop a plague, and almost immediately finds a dead body… with the brutal bounty hunter Lobo standing over it. Unfortunately for Batman, while he’s trying to determine Lobo’s involvement, the plague claims another victim, and many more innocent lives. As in most such crossovers, the question becomes: Can Lobo and Batman put aside their differences in time to save the day?
Sam Kieth wrote and drew this prestige-format mini-series, and while the story is fairly standard, Kieth’s distinctive art, as usual, is extraordinary. He was born to draw Lobo; Batman’s presence is an added bonus.
