Poison the Cure

™ and ©2005 Alex Cahill

Poison the Cure is an odd but intriguing story, or perhaps two stories. The main plot revolves around a small group of revolutionaries and their attempts to sabotage an unethical corporation, and this is framed by a story about three aliens who apparently visit lifeless planets and psychically extract from them strong impressions of reality. The purpose of this is unclear, although “reality” seems to be something like a euphoric drug to them.

The most arresting aspect of Poison the Cure is the art, provided by Alex Cahill; his style is full of cartoonish figures and depends heavily on the contrast between black and white, and in this way takes on a woodcut-like quality However, the story, too, is an interesting puzzle, and seems to speak to the importance, and the potential cost, of struggle against injustice.
