Western Nightmares
(Red-Tail Comet, 2006)
In the wild west, creatures of the night roam free. Marshall Starbuck lives large and protects the town of Blackwood with his werewolf powers. Dead Rivers Junction is the haunt of the undead Kid Poison.
In life he was immune to all poisons, in death poisons are his power and he's out for revenge upon his undead steed. Soon the two will have a showdown. What will the outcome be?
Author Skylar uses this story to process his angst of growing up gay in the worst of the AIDS epidemic. He identifies with Kid Poison, so don't expect this to be a simple story of good vs. evil. He would do to well have his artist practice more. Many of the characters are difficult to distinguish from each other. The overwrought storytelling either says too much or too little. An interesting concept in need of more work.
