The Star Wars movie trilogy told the story of a band of rebels battling the forces of a tyrannical emperor and his dreaded apprentice, Darth Vader. Central to this conflict is the manipulation of a powerful energy known simply as the Force. Young Luke Skywalker struggled to understand his own abilities, even as he found himself pitted against Vader, his father and master of the deadly Dark Side of the Force.

Star Wars: Episode I, The Phantom Menace introduces Anakin, the boy fated to become Darth Vader. This one-shot tie-in presents a selfless young boy who, despite being an indentured slave, cares more for others than himself. His aptitude with machinery is uncanny, and his empathy is unnaturally strong. Anakin dreams of being a starship pilot, but knows he’ll spend his life laboring for his master. But the arrival of two Jedi Knights, legendary masters of the Force, changes Anakin’s life forever.
