Mars Attacks High School

    (Topps, 1997)
™ and ©1997 Topps Comics, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Topps Company, Inc.

In 1996, Tim Burton, (notable to comic fans as the director of the movies Batman and Batman Returns), directed an unusual movie based on a bubblegum card set from the 1960s. Mars Attacks was a high camp send-up of science-fiction movies, and Topps adeptly transferred the fun-filled weirdness to the comic page.

Continued fan support prompted Topps to publish Mars Attacks High School, a two-issue black-and-white mini-series that continues stories interrupted when the full-color Mars Attacks was put on hiatus. The mini-series features a bizarre mix of horror and humor as the invading Martians continue their sometimes-grisly, sometimes-absurd experiments.
