A very fun book about a blue-collar town that sidesteps the typical “fortification against zombies” scenario by making its hero, Billy Bob Driwahl, prescient enough to take care of all that before the undead outbreak.Having thus changed what usually occupies the first two acts of a zombie tale, writer J.C. Vaughn centers his tale on maintaining status quo in small-town intrigue rather than establishing a new order. The insertion of a sword-wielding, super-humanly ass-kicking biker seems almost an unwelcome interruption, but it’s played with the same good humor as the rest of the book. There’s also a beautiful sunset palette throughout the book by artist Vincent Spencer.
