Sláine: Warrior’s Dawn
(Rebellion, 2005)
™ and © Rebellion
Fans of sword–and–sorcery tales should enjoy the adventures of Sláine Mac Roth, a Celtic warrior in the tradition of Conan and Kull. Unlike those barbarians, however, Sláine’s battle prowess is greatly enhanced by his “warp–spasm”, an ability to channel mystical Earth power and transform himself into a monstrous creature with a berserker’s rage.
Exiled from his tribe for loving the Chief’s bride, Sláine travels the lands of Tir-Nan-Og (the Land of the Young—so named because no one ever survives long enough to get old!) with his faithful but detestable dwarf companion Ukko, making his living any way he can—as thief, bodyguard, mercenary, even a stint as prison–keeper.
This book collects several of Sláine’s supernatural adventures, which originally appeared in serialized format in 2000 A.D., of which Pat Mills, the writer and co-creator, is also the founding editor.
