Savage Planet: Secrets of the Empire

Textured art and a good knowledge of anatomy can’t hide the incongruent posture of the characters throughout in this book. Like articulated toys or life-drawings made from a number of angles, the poses are slightly stiff or angled erroneously, only to relax suddenly into a pitch-perfect figure here and there. The story is similar, with solid concepts and plot betrayed by often-leaden dialogue, actions and setups that seem to be based on fantasy influences rather than writer/artist Dan Parson’s own vision.
