A born-loser piano player aims for a little recognition, but finds himself the victim of brutal violence instead. He concocts a publicity stunt to turn his luckless streak to his advantage for once (assuming it’s not all a dying fantasy, Taxi Driver-style). Writer/artist Sean Dietrich has produced something bleak and mean and bitter and thoughtful in smoking prose and murder-scene art. You haven’t seen anything like it in comics, that’s for certain.
