Jonathan Lethem and Farel Dalrymple create a disjointed vision of the psychological troubles behind secret lives and special powers. Alexander is a fourteen-year-old boy who has been raised in isolation by his parents. He’s a genius, but also robotic in his reactions to the world around him, and his parents decide that enrolling him in public high school may help him adapt. Only the culture shock is much larger than anyone anticipated when his parents die in a car accident, leaving Alexander in the care of the hospital staff and with very little understanding of the real world. What’s worse, his odd recurring dream of a super-powered man and his enemies may be coming real, and Alexander may be in a great deal of danger.
