The Transformers: Devastation
(IDW, 2007–2008)
™ and © Idea + Design Works
Third in IDW Publishing’s set of Earth-bound Transformers mini-series (following Infiltration and Escalation), Devastation finds our cast of Autobots and Decepticons in full-out battle mode. Gone is the notion of robots in disguise—Megatron has decided that, if he’s to claim Earth’s resources, the Autobots must be wiped out immediately, regardless of standard protocol. But, as if dealing with the Decepticons wasn’t enough, the Autobots also face a human threat in the form of a mysterious group known as the Machination. They’ve kidnapped an Autobot already, and have sinister plans for the Transformers’ Cybertronian technology, though just what isn’t clear. Writer Simon Furman and E.J. Su lay all the cards out on the table for this series, even bringing in plot threads from the anthology book The Transformers: Spotlight, and by the time this six issue mini-series is up readers are sure to experience what the Transformers motion picture so aptly described: “Their war, our world.”
— Eric Garneau
