Transformers: Beast Wars Sourcebook

Following in the footsteps of former Transformer publisher Dreamwave’s More Than Meets the Eye, IDW’s Beast Wars Sourcebook is a profile book full of information on the characters that populate the world of Beast Wars: Transformers. Each character gets his own page (or more) devoted to pictures of each of the character’s modes, a biography, a paragraph on weapons/abilities and a note on weaknesses. In a way, though, the Beast Wars sourcebook is a more impressive and important resource than More Than Meets the Eye because many of the characters within never received any kind of personality before—the Beast Wars television show only used about 20 of the toy line’s multitude of characters, and while IDW’s Beast Wars: The Gathering and Beast Wars: The Ascending have more than doubled that number, they still don’t come close to giving all the characters their share. This book fixes that, though: there are profiles for Japanese-only toy repaints, for instance, and even for McDonalds Happy Meal toys. Indeed, the Beast Wars Sourcebook is an impressive resource, and one that any Beast Wars: Transformers fan cannot be without.
