Mike Shayne is a tough-talking, hard-fighting private investigator whose hair changed from red to blonde over the course of this three-issue series from Dell. His adventures reveal that Shayne is definitely smarter than the criminal element, which includes smugglers, thieves, and murderers. The mysteries are fairly straightforward fare, but the artwork is gorgeous, especially the painted covers. The backup features are short, self-contained mysteries with no continuing characters—interesting enough, but fairly predictable.
