Gorillaz: Rise of the Ogre

™ and © 2006 Gorillaz

The Gorillaz “biography” and behind-the-scenes compendium, is a brilliant idea that appeals even to those of us who don’t listen to the semi-fictional band. It is, at first glance, enormously beautiful, and at second glance—well, there is no second glance. By then you’re sucked in. It’s comedic genius, but it’s also genius with a comedic slant—the interviews and dispatches are funny, sure, but they also come off as disturbingly believable, given what actually unfolds. A must-have for the fan, and a recommendation for the music lover.
