DC Comics Presents: Green Lantern

™ and © 2004 DC Comics, Inc.

In 2004, Julius Schwartz passed away after leaving his mark in the classics of comics. Many times, he would come up with a cover idea and let them inspire writers in need of story ideas. DC chose to celebrate the legacy of Julie by letting new artists and writers come up with new renditions of these classic tales.

In this issue, we have the cover of Green Lantern #31 where our hero is selling fully operating power rings for a dollar apiece. The original cover was by Gil Kane and Murphy Anderson, but Brian Bolland gives it a special touch by adding the face of Julie Schwartz to a satisfied customer flying off into the sky. Brian Azzarello, Norm Breyfogle, and Sal Buscema come up with “Penny for Your Thoughts, Dollar for Your Destiny.” A more down to earth story is in “Feel Something” by Martin Pasko, Scott McDaniel, and Andy Owens. This special is wrapped up by an obituary by Harlan Ellison with Brian M. Thomsen’s help.
