Tigress Tales (Mike Hoffman’s…)

    (Amryl, 2001-2003)

This beautifully illustrated black-and-white title from Amryl Entertainment is set on a prehistoric planet, where the scantily clad Tigress runs free in the lush, green forests. She is one of a reclusive people who rarely interact with others, except to mate, and when she’s threatened, this Tigress has claws. The pulp magazine-style covers, the sexy, Wally Wood-inspired art and the strangers-in-a-strange-land plot of the first issue – which involves a group of teleporting explorers – puts one in mind of the classic Warren horror magazines of the 1970s. Definitely worth a look for fans of good-girl art and old-fashioned (in a good way) comics.
