Ernie
(Kitchen Sink)
™ and © Kitchen Sink Press, Inc.
One of the most unlikely comic strips to ever grace a comic book is Bud Grace’s Ernie, which debuted in newspapers in 1987. Renamed The Piranha Club in 1998, Ernie features the comedic adventures of Ernie Floyd, the assistant manager of a Mr. Squid fast food restaurant and his unscrupulous uncle Sid. The Piranha Club refers to a group of misanthropes who repeatedly wreak financial ruin for Ernie and Sid. Ernie won the 1993 Reuben Award for Best Comic Strip and is definitely worth reading for its humor of questionable taste.
