UltraForce is the all-out action super-hero team book in Malibu’s Ultraverse, featuring big, colorful stars like Prime, Prototype, Hardcase, Topaz, and Contrary. Writer Gerard Jones spends a fair amount of time developing characters and conflicts within the group and providing a firm grounding for the Ultraverse world, while veteran artist George Pérez renders it all in his detail-rich and highly controlled style.

The heroes, or “ultras” of UltraForce are sponsored by different entities, and competing for acclaim and honor even as they need to collaborate as a team. Prototype is a teenage kid in powerful armor; Prime is the “heavy hitter” with more brains than brawn; Hardcase is the reluctant leader, unwilling to assume responsibility for another group after leading a former team member to his death. Together they must tackle the super-villains of the Ultraverse under the intense glare of the media spotlight.
