Imagine a world where super-villains are not only real, but in control. The general populace, however, is unaware of their existence. Super-heroes? Not a problem. The bad guys are the sole authority.

Now imagine a regular guy, unaware of the forces that control his world, being told that his father was one of the preeminent rogues. Furthermore, in light of his father’s recent demise, he is to inherit a fortune, as well as his sire’s villainous mantle.
You have entered the world of Wanted.

Wanted is the first title to appear in Mark Millar’s multi-company “Millarverse.” In this series, he takes a fresh look at a number of villainous archetypes. So many series have taken “fresh” looks at the good guys, one has to wonder what Millar will find to say about the scoundrels.

Among Millar’s cast is a slightly mad scientist. There’s a catty woman (Fox, who, perhaps, too closely resembles DC’s heroic Vixen). There’s a bizarre duplicate of an iconic hero (with a hilarious but unprintable name). And then there’s The Killer.

The character of The Killer is reminiscent of Watchmen’s Comedian. The death of The Killer is, likewise, evocative of The Comedian’s death in Watchmen. It’s not a copy of it; it just conjures images of that classic work.
